So it’s official: we’re doing away with “training opportunities,” and sticking with “opportunities.” Everyone — including you (thanks for your input!) — agreed “training opportunities” is limiting and doesn’t really capture the breadth of the opportunities we advertise on IJNet. They’re certainly not just training.
Some other changes re. opportunities …
We also recently agreed (internally) that the way we’ve been writing and presenting IJNet “training opportunities” stories is extremely superfluous and time intensive. I don’t think anyone at IJNet is particularly wedded to the format we’ve been using for years, which, as you know, presents opportunities as multi-paragraph stories. So going forward we’re going to explore a standard format/field type layout for opportunities stories. This will hit the who/what/where/when/why/for more info, but in a simply layout. This will also make it easier to organize these opportunities, and easier for users to find exactly what you want.
Along those lines, we’d like to generate more 2-way information exchange with the opportunities stories. We know all of you are in the know with what’s going on in your areas, so we’re going to invite you to submit opportunities stories right on our site as well! You won’t be required to fill in all categories, but just as much as you can. Once you submit this info, it will prompt us here to view and edit it, and then post the opportunity. I hope you’re up for it
And last but not least, we’re tweaking our logo a bit. What do you think?
